Insights into Refurbishment and Conversion Projects with ZECH Bau

Many thanks to ZECH Bau SE NL Rohbau München for the opportunity to gain first-hand insights into current refurbishment and conversion projects. The site visit provided valuable perspectives on the day-to-day challenges of working on existing buildings and on the high level of technical complexity involved in such projects.

Working on existing structures differs significantly from conventional new-build construction. Existing building fabric, limited space, and ongoing use create specific demands for planning, logistics, and execution. At the same time, refurbishment, conversion, and the further development of existing buildings are becoming increasingly important. They are a key component of a resource-efficient and climate-friendly construction industry.

It is precisely in this environment that flexible, compact, and efficient machines are becoming increasingly important. Many tasks take place in confined interior spaces, within existing buildings, or under difficult access conditions. Materials must be moved, structural elements dismantled, and new components installed — often in very limited spaces.

This is exactly where our vision begins.

With QuiMo, we are developing a compact and universally applicable machine specifically designed for these requirements. Our goal is to make dismantling work, material handling, and installation processes in existing buildings more efficient, more economical, and, in the long term, more climate-friendly.

The insights gained from real-world practice help us better understand the requirements on site and incorporate them directly into the further development of our technology.

We are working to make our first contributions soon and will continue to share regular updates on our progress.
